2017 Vigil Honor Nominations

May 2, 2017 By eswau.net

vigil honor nominations

The Vigil Honor is unique, it is the highest honor that an Order of the Arrow Lodge can bestow on its members. The Vigil honor is not earned; it is given to honor someone for going above and beyond the description of his or her position in scouting, for the greater good the lodge and Scouting.

Under no circumstances should tenure in Scouting or the Order of the Arrow be considered as reason enough for a Vigil Honor recommendation.

To be eligible for consideration for the Vigil Honor, an Arrowman must have been a Brotherhood member for at least two years at the time of the Lodge Vigil selection meeting; and a member in good standing with the Piedmont Council, BSA and Eswau Huppeday Lodge #560 (registered with dues paid).

All brothers in the list below are verified eligible for nomination of the Vigil Honor. They are grouped by Chapter. Both adults and youth can be nominated.

To nominate a brother, use the online nomination form.

Or download and submit the PDF form:  2017 Vigil Honor Nomination Form

Nominations must be received by May 31, 2017 to be considered.

Forms need to be received by May 31st, 2017 to be considered. You can turn in a completed form at the May Ordeal by Noon on Saturday May 6th.

National Leadership Seminar – March 3-5, 2017

February 14, 2017 By eswau.net

NLS 2017

On the weekend of March 3-5, 2017 outside of Nashville, TN. Camp Widjiwagan will host the National Leadership Seminar (NLS). NLS is a weekend conference focusing on the skills and characteristics of leadership. It is intended primarily to enhance the leadership skills of the OA’s key youth and adult members, as they seek to improve their service to Scouting and the greater community.

The NLS will provide participants with:

  • A challenging, inspiring, and enjoyable learning experience
  • A better understanding of the skills of leadership, and how to apply them
  • A better understanding of themselves and of other people
  • A realization that, with practice and work, everyone can improve their leadership skills
  • An understanding that leadership skills work in tandem with one another
  • An understanding that different situations require the application of different leadership skills
  • A model with which to evaluate themselves and others in the use of leadership skills

Each NLS is delivered by a training team selected and approved by the Region Key 3, and includes former and current Section and National Officers of the Order of the Arrow.

The cost for the weekend is $210 which covers meals, training expenses, and lodging within cabins.

Register online for the March course.
