Lodge Leadership Development 2013

October 10, 2013 By eswau.net

Order of the Arrow Lodge Leadership Development
Lodge Leadership Development (LLD) will be held at First United Methodist Church of Hickory on Saturday October 12th starting at 9:00am. Lunch and snacks will be served, the cost is $8.

There will also a *Planning Meeting at 8:00pm on Friday October 11th at the same location.

LLD is a day of training sessions for our new Chiefs, Chairmen, and Advisers. Also anyone interested in helping with the 50th Anniversary Celebration is encouraged to come as well.

The meeting will be in the Church’s community room, most easily accessed by entering the church on the west side, closest to the Patrick Beaver Library, Catawba Science center, Hickory Art Museum (also know as the SALT block). There is parking on that side of the church, but also in the back of the church.

Two things of note for Saturday:

  1. There is a wedding taking place at the church, so be respectful when entering and leaving.
  2. Hickory Oktoberfest is being held all weekend, so there will be increased traffic in the area but an opportunity for you and/or send your significant other(s) to visit the festival.

The *planning meeting on Friday evening will start at 8:00pm. This meeting is to discuss some things that will be changing within the E-Board and some planning for the upcoming year.

Needed at this meeting are the: Lodge Chief, Treasurer, Secretary, VCP, VCA, VCIA, and the Activities and Communications Chairmen along with the advisors for all for mentioned committees.

If you’d like, you can spend the night in the church. Just bring your sleeping bag/cot. You don’t have to wear anything scouting for the Friday meeting, but do have Class A’s ready for Saturday morning.

Get Ready for the 2015 National Order of the Arrow Conference

The National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) is the premier event of the Order of the Arrow, and is Scouting’s second-largest national event. Over 10,000 Arrowmen from across our nation gather for an inspirational and unforgettable experience full of fellowship, training, adventure, and fun!

During NOAC, Arrowmen will participate in a 6 day conference which includes top notch training sessions, cool recreational opportunities, evening shows full of theatrics and special effects, and exciting programs.

The 2015 NOAC will be held from August 3-8, 2015 at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, and will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow. Arrowmen can travel to NOAC with a contingent from their lodge, or as a staff member supporting the thousands of Arrowmen attending in the conference.

In the coming months you will find everything you need to know about NOAC 2015: how to go, what exciting opportunities await you, and the plans for the conference. Follow National Order of the Arrow Facebook page to stay up to date with information and announcements.

Don’t miss out on NOAC in 2015, because the next one won’t be until 2018! To reserve you spot in your lodge contingent talk to your lodge chief, lodge adviser, or lodge staff adviser today.

Legacy Project 2015

December 28, 2012 By eswau.net

As part of the 100th anniversary of the Order of the Arrow, a commemorative fireplace is being built. The fireplace will be onsite at the National Order of the Arrow Conference in 2015.

All lodges were invited to participate by getting their own rock and having it engraved with their lodge name and council city. The collected rocks will be used in the construction of the fireplace.

Here’s the rock that was brought back from NOAC and prepared for the project by Eswau Huppeday!
