Award Nominations and Voting at 2019 Fall Fellowship

August 31, 2019 By eswau.net

At Fall Fellowship, voting for the James E. West Fellowship Award and the Order of the Arrow Founder’s Award will take place. If you would like to nominate a brother in our lodge for one of these awards, please read more about them below and use the form to make your nomination(s). Past recipients of the awards are listed below the form.

Order of the Arrow Founder’s Award
Introduced at the 1981 National Order of the Arrow Conference, the Founder’s Award recognizes Arrowmen who have given outstanding service to their lodge. The award is reserved for an Arrowman who demonstrates that he or she personifies the spirit of selfless service, as advocated by founder E. Urner Goodman and cofounder Carroll A. Edson.

Lodges may petition the national Order of the Arrow committee to present between two and four awards annually, depending on the number of members in the lodge. If the lodge presents more than one award, at least one must be awarded to a youth under the age of 21.

James E. West Fellowship Award
The James E. West Fellowship Award is a national recognition for individuals who contribute $1,000 or more to their local council endowment trust fund. It is probably the one award that sparks the most misunderstanding. Some immediately assume that the award was simply purchased, which is not accurate.

The money may be given by a group of Scouters or individual Scouter to honor a fellow Scouter, as a memorial, or to recognize an achievement. Eswau Huppeday lodge makes the donation to the Piedmont Councils endowment fund to recognize outstanding Arrowmen.
